Bulletproof materials

The materials used for the production of our own bulletproof inserts are permanently improved and the technology of their production is continuously improved so that the materials currently used are thinner, lighter but at the same time many times stronger.

Kevlar® by DuPont

Twaron materiál obrázek

Kevlar® is an organic fibre from the group of aromatic polyamide /ARAMID/. Kevlar® has a unique combination of high strength, high resilience modulus and thermal stability. At the same time, it is chemically stable in a wide range of chemical compounds, including acids and bases. In practice, a wide range of Kevlar® types can be found, differing primarily in their intended use. Kevlar® fibre does not melt, but it does decompose at a relatively high temperature ranging from 427 to 482 degrees Celsius. It also reliably retains its bulletproof properties up to this temperature. Kevlar® fabrics used for the production of soft armor are made from fibres of different dtex, resulting in fabrics of different softness. And it is up to the customer which type they choose. For bulletproof applications, this product has been used for more than 30 years. However, nowadays, this para-amid is offered as that of the latest generation.

Twaron® by Teijin Limited

Twaron® is a para-amide fiber featuring high strength, high elasticity modulus, low specific gravity and high energy absorption. Its chemical resistance is also very good, and so is its resistance to higher temperatures. It is electrically non-conductive. Its quality is also characterized in dtex units. Gared uses fabrics with a water-repellent treatment for the production of soft armor vests. This product has been used for bulletproof applications since 1986.

Dyneema® UD by DSM

Dyneema® super strong polyethylene fibre developed and patented by DSM in 1979 is 10 times stronger than steel and has a high specific modulus, low elongation at break, high resistance to abrasion, UV radiation, chemicals and last but not least high energy absorption. This is one of the important factors for the value of the trauma effect, which is relatively low for these materials. The materials used for soft armor vests are mainly SB-2 with a specific gravity of 155 g/m2 and SB-31 with a specific gravity of 132 g/m2. For hard armor plates, the products marked as HB 2 are used.

Spectra® and Gold Shield® by Honeywell

Spectra® - full power, no compromises. Spectra® high-tenacity fibres have been trusted worldwide for decades. Spectra® is 15 times stronger than steel, more durable than polyester, and its specific strength is 40% higher than that of aramid fibers. It is used where light weight is critical.

Gold Shield® - Honeywell has been combining aramid fibers with patented Shield technology for nearly two decades to offer the Gold Shield® product line. This line specializes in the use of high-strength fibers for military applications.

Combination of aramid and Dyneema®

Twaron materiál obrázekGARED s.r.o. has developed a bulletproof system for the production of soft body armor by combining the unique properties of aramid and Dyneema®, using the very good heat resistance of aramid with the low specific gravity and high strength of Dyneema®. This system is comfortable, lightweight and provides very good bulletpfoof protection including a good trauma effect value.
